Minuet is an appropriate name for the breed! Our Females are around 5-6.5 lbs and our Males are 8-9lbs. Their weight does not vary given their leg length (ie. talls and shorts weight the same).
We have an affinity for long haired cats, but they do come in a short haired version. Zuko and Carenza each have a short haired parent, but we are unlikely to get short haired kittens as the long haired is the dominant gene. If you are looking for a shorthaired Minuet, we can refer you!
Lots! This is one of the fun things about the Minuet breed! We can get oranges, blacks, silvers, torties, blues (gray), and all sorts of colors which are all able to be shown and included in the breed. We do look at each pair's genetics when we breed to see what color options may be produced, but Mother Nature controls the outcome!
Yes. Combing or brushing is part of all of our cat's daily routines. Routine grooming allows us to examine the skin, monitor for any lumps or bumps, keep a sharp eye out for fleas or ticks, and prevent tangles that can be irritating. We love a buttercomb and small set of blunt ended scissors for tangle emergencies.
As with all long haired cats, it can be helpful to employ a local cat friendly groomer for trimming around the anus and vulva or penis to create a "potty path" for keeping the haircoa
t clean of urine or feces. We bathe for shows and as needed for cleanliness. Don't forget that the nails need trimmed regularly (every 3 weeks) to prevent pointy bits that can damage furniture or get stuck in fabrics.
HA! That's hysterical. Do NOT let the tiny legs fool you! They are built like tanks, move fast, climb, and solve problems like they work for NASA. In the gallery is a photo of Azula, who is a tall, scaling the front of a wardrobe using the handles like a ladder. Zuko (short), routinely prefers to be at the top of a 6 foot cat tree or in the bunk beds in our guest room.
Good genetics create healthy joints, which means they can do anything!
As with all cats, routine lab testing (Complete Blood Counts, Chemistry Profiles, Fecal testing, & Urinalysis) should be done once a year and twice yearly after 6-7 years of age. Cats are great at hiding disease or illness - this is why it's important that as their guardians, we make sure they receive veterinary care and regular examinations.
Minuets as a whole, do not have specific reported medical issues. There are concerns regarding the short's and a potential to develop arthritis or joint pain earlier or more frequently than other cats. The Minuet Breed Committee has been conducting a radiographic study of the legs of registered Minuets (think OFA if you are a dog person) and this hypothesis is not supported thus far.
If you purchase from us, we require that you have your new kitten examined by your veterinarian within 7 days of possession. This is good practice for bringing ANY new pet into your home, no matter where it comes from.

Yes! We do genetic testing on all the cats in our breeding program to screen for potential diseases, identify color markers, and learnt their blood type (yes, cats have blood types!).
Prices on Minuets can vary based on leg length, show quality or pet quality (AKA how closely does the cat match the breed standard), your desire to show, and if the cat is being sold with breeding rights. On average, you can plan to spend anywhere from $1000 - $4000. Both the standard (short) and non-standard (tall) cats are now eligible to show with TICA as of the 2026-2027 show season. This may impact future kitten pricing.
We prefer to be able to hand our kittens to their new families. This means arranging a public meet up space (veterinary clinic, show location, airport, etc.) to drive or fly to. Delivery and any associated costs will be arranged as part of the purchase discussion.
What if I am overseas? We are happy to entertain the opportunity to bring your kitty to you and can discuss how that works during the purchase discussion.
Our goal is to place kittens into loving pet homes and with those who are interested in showing to promote the breed. Cats sold with breeding rights will be limited to those with an established cattery or history of showing the breed and a known mentor.
